My essay on Islam

                                          Muhammad & Islam
Do you know about the origins of Islam and the legacy of its founder Muhammad?  Islam is one of the world’s oldest religions, as it was created in the 6th century AD by the prophet Muhammad. He is credited with the founding of Islam in the ancient Arab city of his birth, Mecca and spreading the faith around the Arabian Peninsula, (what is now the Middle East), North Africa and Asia.
Born into a poor, but influential Arabic family in 570 A.D.in Mecca, his rise to religious prophet is a journey of spiritual growth through the discovery of faith.  Muhammad began to experience changes in his young adult life and he began to question the world around him. He took to meditation as he searched for answers, often escaping to a cave to practice in solitude. Through this historical meditative experience, Mohammad was visited by a spiritual being in the form of an angel. This angel asked Mohammad to, “Recite, recite, recite!” Mohammad and his family believed that this angel spoke to him to bring the message of a new God, named Allah. Allah, meaning God, in Arabic is founded in the idea of monotheism, that there is one and only one true God. This belief was in sharp contrast to his previous belief that there were many Gods, or polytheism. In addition, the angel told Mohammed to go forth and spread the ideas of Allah and gather followers to convert to the new religion of Islam.
Then, Islam   started to develop three empires. The three well known empires are The Ottamon Empire, the Maghal Empire, and the Safavid Empire. The Ottamon Empire began in mid 1,200. The Safavid Empire began in 1,501 when the Safavid leader Esmail conquered Persia. The Maghal Empire was basically Turkish Muslims from central Asia their Empire was established in 1,526.
The Muslims accomplishments were Astronomy, Geography, Math, Medicine, and last but not least Philosophy. Well Astronomy is an accomplishment because they used that for understanding time and clock making. How Geography was an accomplishment was they used that to calculate time and location by the stars. How math was an accomplishment was that they had created a number system that started with zero and that system was called the new number “Arabic” numerals. Now how Medicine was a accomplishment was a doctor that found how to treat smallpox. Smallpox is a very big disease. Last but not least how philosophy is an accomplishment is people found away to have a relationship with God and find Gods love. I hoped you enjoyed learning about Muhammad and the Islamic World.

Muslims achievements

Science and Philosophy
The empires of the Islamic world contributed to the achievements of Islamic culture.
Muslim scholars made advances in astronomy, geography, math, and science. Scholars at
Baghdad and Córdoba translated many ancient writings on these subjects into Arabic.
Having a common language helped scholars throughout the Islamic world share what
they learned with each other.
Astronomy
Many Muslim cities had observatories where people could study the sun, moon, and stars.
This study of astronomy helped scientists to better understand time and clockmaking.
Muslim scientists also improved the astrolabe, which the Greeks had invented to chart the
position of the stars. Arab scholars used the astrolabe to figure out their location on Earth.
Geography
Studying astronomy also helped Muslims explore the world. As people learned to use the
stars to calculate time and location, merchants and explorers began to travel widely.
explorer
help travelers, Muslim geographers made more accurate maps than were available before,
and developed better ways of calculating distances.
TheIbn Battutah traveled to Africa, India, China, and Spain in the 1320s. To
Math
Muslim scholars also made advances in mathematics. In the 800s they combined the
Indian number system, including the use of zero, with the Greek science of mathematics.
A Muslim mathematician used these ideas to write two important books. One laid the
foundation for modern algebra. The other explained the new number system. When his
works reached Europe, Europeans called the new numbers “Arabic” numerals.
Medicine
Muslims may have made their greatest advances in medicine. They combined Greek and
Indian knowledge with discoveries of their own. Muslim doctors started the first
pharmacy school to teach people how to make medicine. A doctor in Baghdad discovered
how to treat smallpox. Another doctor, known in the West as Avicenna (av-uh-SEN-uh),
wrote a medical encyclopedia. It was used throughout Europe until the 1600s and is one
of the most famous books in the history of medicine.
Philosophy
Many Muslim doctors and scientists studied the ancient Greek philosophy of rational
thought.
(
Others focused on spiritual issues, leading to a movement called Sufism.

Empires OF Islam

Islam started to develop three empires. The three well known empires The Ottamon Empire, The Maghal Empire, and The Safavid Empire. The Empires are all created in different time peroids. they where all created around the 1605s. They got along because they all collapse. they last into the late 1600s.

Describing Islam and the Qu'ran

The central teaching of the Qu'ran is that there is only one god (Allah). Allah was another way of saying (God) but in Allah is in Arabic. Well how Muslims honor God (Allah) is they fast in the month of Ramadan. They are showing God that God is more important than ones body. Also they go to Mecca every year for a pilgramage to pray. The function of the Sunnah is that the  Sunnah refers to the way Muhammad lived, which provides a model for the duties and the way of life expected from Muslims.
